The Shakamaxon Powwow is an annual event hosted by the Native American House Alliance that celebrates the Lenape culture and heritage. Attendees can witness traditional dances, songs, and storytelling during the event. Additionally, there will be vendors selling handmade crafts and food. The event is free to the public; donations are welcome upon entry or online: nativeamericanhousealliance.org/donate.
The powwow is a great opportunity for people to learn about the Lenape culture and traditions. It is a family-friendly event that welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. Quakers, in particular, are encouraged to remember and renew the 1682 Amity Agreement, a pledge of mutual aid and friendship that the Lenape (meaning “the people”) view as in effect and unbroken.
